Asphalt

Asphalt is a combination of small crushed and smooth stone, sand, gravel and asphalt cement. As a material, it has several properties that make it ideal for roads. It provides good traction for safety, yet tires move quietly over the smooth surface, which reduces fuel use and carbon emissions.
